Storing FPGA configuration in Flash

In this tutorial I will show how to generate a file that can be programmed onto the Flash memory that often is connected to an FPGA for storing its configuration so that it can be loaded automatically at power on.

As hardware for this tutorial I am using a Spartan 6 development board, used and designed at University of Southern Denmark. It has a number of external peripherals. This naturally means that some of the selections in this tutorial will not apply on other development boards, however, the procedure should be similar.
